April 16, 2008 was the opening of the 2008 Dagupan Bangus Festival. The opening was held at the plaza headed by Hon. Mayor Alipio Fernandez together with Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez and councilors and the bangus festival committee.
I have noticed some good changes in this wonderful festivity! First, i liked how they dressed up the downtown area. You can feel the celebration! Second, the street dancing competition was held before the Gilon Gilon. Good idea, because if the 26 barangay parade from Perez Blvd to MH Del Pilar to the Downtown and back to the plaza before the ritual dance competition each participant will be exhausted. Make-ups, melted. With the heat of the sun, they’ll lose energy and won’t appear glowing during the competition. Third, additional activities!
The Street Dancing Competition was won by Brgy Mangin. All the participants were great and they enjoyed performing. A lot of activities are set to make everyone happy during the festival. Let’s see on the 30th how it will rock and roll the people of Dagupan and its visitors from outside the city! For more info, check out the schedule.
